Finally BizTalk Services is not containing BizTalk in its official name anymore, but that is now called Microsoft .NET Services. "Dublin" is the code-name for Windows Application Server Extensions and contians part that was originally in the "Oslo" vision. (Side note: "Oslo" is now only the modelling).
As you might already know BizTalk services, sorry .NET Services, contains mainly three things; a Service Bus, a Security Token Service (STS) and a Workflow host. The Service Bus supports both point-to-point and pub/sub. I still haven't seen anything that mentions if it is (or will be) possible to install this infrastructure in the enterprise, so as far as I know of it is only available in the cloud. I think it would be interesting to be able to install and run this infrastructure in the enterprise without needing to go out in the cloud for in-enterprise calls.
The "Dubin" infrastructure is:
- Hosting
- Scale-out
- Monitoring
- Content-based routing
- Persistence
- Versioning
- App packaging & deployment
Unfortunately the session did not cover any of this bullets, but focused only on .NET Services. I hope to be able to add some details about "Dublin" during the coming week, so stay tuned.
