One of the goals with service orienting your business is to become more agile. Service orientation will bring more agility to the IT systems, but it will also require people in the business to change. As humans we are not very flexible. We tend to stick to what we know, with fear of the unknown and most people find it hard see the possibilities with change. The book "Service Orient or Be Doomed" (blogged a review
here), brings this topic to the table (a little bit too much even). When I read the chapters covering this, I remember a book I read a few years ago which is also worth reading. The name of the book is "
Who Moved My Cheese?", written by Spencer Johnson. It's a short book, and really easy to read. It uses a fable about mice and humans who live in a maze where they have to look for cheese. To give you a feeling about it, I will quote a sticker that came with the book.
