According to
IEEE Standard 1471-2000 it is "the fundamental organization of a system embodied by its components, their relationships to each other and the environment and the principles guiding its design and evolution".
I think this is a good definition and it's a standard worth taking a closer look at. They don't define how an architecture or architectural process should be, but it does specify certain required content of an Architectural description.
