PDC Day Five: More Linq

I attended another session that partly was about the Linq project. The session title was "C# Future Directions in Language Innovation from Anders Hejlsberg". This was a little bit more of an in-depth explanation of how the queries are working and the different parts that make them work.
For me it has seemed that C# 2.0 doesn't have as many new features as for example VB 8. Two of them are anonymous methods and the yield statement. Anonymous method I have been able to see some use of, for example not needing to write an event handler, but instead call the implementing method directly. This would save me a couple of lines, but yield I haven't yet seen a good example of. After today I realize though that C# 2 is only the next step in the foundation that C# 3 will build upon, and especially Linq. This means that they do not need to make any infrastructure changes to get Linq working.
To summaries this up. My view from yesterday that Linq will change the way we design our applications haven't changed at all after learning more today. I also must say that I like Anders a lot. His great at doing presentation and I also listened to him during "Ask the expert". He shines … you can really tell that he must love doing what he is doing. When I get back home later next week I will try to upload a picture of Anders (very relaxed, sipping on some wine) writing on the whiteboard with a lot of developers around him. In my point of view that is a very open organization, when one of the top architects does that kind of thing.
